USAID donates avian influenza protective suits to NEMA
Due to the recent outbreak of H5N1 and H1N1 in neighboring countries, on behalf of the American people, USAID in Ulaanbaatar ordered 5,000 personal protective suits, laboratory specimen kits and surface disinfectants worth about $51,887 to Mongolia under the USAID/Deliver Project at the request of the Government of Mongolia. On June 17, U.S. Ambassador Mark Minton donated the equipment to the National Emergency Management Agency at a ceremony that highlighted our bilateral cooperation for emergency preparedness.
This is the second time the USAID/Deliver Project provided Mongolia commodities for avian influenza. The first shipment in 2007 also included personal protection equipment, lab specimen collection kits and decontamination kits.
