Breast Cancer Seminar for Mongolian physicians
On June 30, 2009 the Public Affairs Section sponsored a one-day conference on “Novel approaches and standards in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer” at the Mongolian National Cancer Center to coincide with the visit of Dr. Audrey M. Park-Skinner. Dr. Park-Skinner, a surgeon from Duluth, MN, who volunteered to work this week with the Cancer Center, lectured on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. PAS distributed Susan B. Komen Foundation materials on breast cancer and early detection that we had translated into Mongolian. The 60 doctors from the National Cancer Center and Ulaanbaatar district surgeons who participated in this training found the information about early detection and cost-effective screening and treatment that could be used in Mongolia very useful.
