POSITION: Alumni Outreach Coordinator

LENGTH OF HIRE: Fixed-Term: 1 year
WORK HOURS: Full time; 40 hours/week
The U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar is seeking candidates for the position of Alumni Outreach Coordinator in the Public Affairs Office.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
• Coordinate and organize alumni programs and events (receptions, conferences, seminars, workshops and other meetings);
• Pursue opportunities for alumni funding from the State Department and/or private sector entities;
• Promote awareness of alumni accomplishments and professional development and post relevant news stories on the State Alumni Website;
• Update and maintain country specific alumni records;
• Help expand the capacity of the Mission in sustaining an effective relationship with USG exchange program alumni;
• Develop the capacity of existing alumni associations; and
• Assist the PAO and Cultural Assistant in recruiting exchange program participants.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. The following are minimum requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts, social sciences, education, business or a related field; or university students who have completed their third year.
- Prior Work Experience: At least two years experience in programming activities, international relations, or related field, preferably in a bilingual setting.
- Language skills: Level 4 (Fluent) of speaking/reading English; and Level 4 (Fluent) of speaking/reading/writing Mongolian
- Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Mongolian political, social, economic and cultural structures and figures, basic knowledge of State Department Public Diplomacy cultural and exchange programs and relevant regulations. Broad knowledge of US society, culture, art, education, political and economic issues.
- Skills and Abilities: Must be able to use a computer, common office software programs, and other office equipment such as scanners, faxes, and copiers.
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA
- Management must take into consideration anti-nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status issues in determining qualified candidates.
- Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory” on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
- Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
- Currently employed Non Ordinary Residents (NORs) hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address in the application the required qualifications mentioned above.
