Announcement: Effective September 17, Nonimmigrant Visa Appointments Must Be Scheduled On-Line

Effective September 17, 2007, appointments for nonimmigrant visas will be scheduled using an on-line appointment system.  Many U.S. Embassies and Consulates around the world use this system.  The U.S. Embassy is instituting this change to provide greater convenience for visa applicants.

The appointments can be scheduled through our website at http://ulaanbaatar.state.gov https://ulaanbaatar.usembassy.gov/how_to_schedule_an_interview.html or at http://mongolian.mongolia.usembassy.gov/how_to_schedule_an_interview.html

Instructions and information on how to make an appointment on-line are available in both English and Mongolian.

You have to complete the following three steps in order to successfully schedule your visa interview.

Step 1: Applicants must pay the 100 USD Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee at the Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia.  The fee must be paid using the equivalent of 100 USD in Mongolian Tugrugs.  Applicants must present their passport when paying the fee.  The 100.00 USD application fee receipt is valid for 1 year from the payment of the fee and is nonrefundable.

Step 2: Applicants must complete the electronic visa application form (DS-156).  The DS-156 form can be accessed directly from the Embassy website at http://ulaanbaatar.usembassy.gov/temporary_visitors.html or at http://evisaforms.state.gov

Step 3: Applicants must go to https://ulaanbaatar.usembassy.gov/how_to_schedule_an_interview.html or http://mongolian.mongolia.usembassy.gov/how_to_schedule_an_interview.html and make your appointment by clicking on the “Make an Appointment” button.  The appointment system will take applicants step by step through the process.  Applicants must fill out the form completely or the system will not accept the appointment request.
