Congressional Delegation visits Mongolia
Five members of the U.S. House of Representatives visited Mongolia from July 1-4, 2007 to inaugurate an exchange program between the House Democracy Assistance Commission and the State Great Hural. The U.S. delegation was headed by Representatives Donald Payne and David Dreier. The House Democracy Assistance Commission (HDAC) works to promote and support the development of democratic governments around the world. Specifically, HDAC works through peer-to-peer partnerships with emerging democratic legislatures to assist in the development of the fundamental building blocks of legislative government: oversight, transparency, accountability, effective legislation, and responsiveness to constituents.
