Chargé d’ Affaires Visits Zavkhan, Gobi Altai, and Bayankhongor Aimags

U.S. Chargé d’ Affaires Brian Goldbeck visited Zavkhan, Gobi Altai and Bayankhongor aimags, April 20-24.  During the trip he met local government officials, political party leaders, NGO representatives, religious leaders, teachers, students, and journalists.  The Chargé observed USAID projects implemented by Mercy Corps to assist small businesses, veterinarians and herders.  Mr. Goldbeck talked with local leaders and residents about agribusiness, food processing, tourism, mining, herding, veterinary science, small and medium enterprise development, religious freedom and tolerance.  In addition, the Chargé met U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers serving in local communities in Zavkhan and Bayankhongor.  He also visited environmental sites, such as Otgontenger Mountain, as well as cultural monuments.
