The U.S. Embassy sponsored a cleanup of the river Selbe in honor of Earth Day, an international holiday to promote environmental awareness, on Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00am to 1:00pm. About 100 Embassy staff members were joined by colleagues from the Ministry of Nature and Environment, the 11th District Government, MCS Company’s Tiger team and the International School of Ulaanbaatar to pick up trash from the river and river’s banks near the U.S. Embassy. The goals of the event were to promote stewardship of our natural environment where we work and live and to bring the local community together around the common cause of making our world, Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, and our neighborhood a cleaner and more beautiful place to live while preserving it for future generations.
