  • Breast Cancer Seminar for Mongolian physicians

    On June 30, 2009 the Public Affairs Section sponsored a one-day conference on “Novel approaches and standards in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer” at the Mongolian National Cancer Center to coincide with the visit of Dr. Audrey M. Park-Skinner.

  • Cultural Preservation Donation

    The U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia, Mark C. Minton, presented a check for $86,200 from the State Department’s Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation to the Arts Council of Mongolia and Amarbayasgalant Monastery in a press conference and ceremony on June 24.

  • USAID donates avian influenza protective suits

    Due to the recent outbreak of H5N1 and H1N1 in neighboring countries, on behalf of the American people, USAID in Ulaanbaatar ordered 5,000 personal protective suits, laboratory specimen kits and surface disinfectants worth about $51,887 to Mongolia under the Deliver Project at the request of the Government of Mongolia.

Consular Section Helps Verbist Center
The Verbist Center is an orphanage that houses 70 children from the ages of 3 to 18. All of the children are former street kids who have been abandoned by their families. The Center is run by Lucille Munchi from Cameroon.

President of the American Studies Association visits Mongolia
Prof. Phil Deloria, President of the American Studies Association and Professor at the University of Michigan, presented three topics on environmental history to Mongolian environmentalists, environment lecturers and professors and other interested audiences.

U.S. National War College Students Visit Mongolia
A group of nine students and a faculty member from the United States National War College visited Mongolia May 17 to May 23 as part of their regional studies focused on North East Asia. The purpose of the visit was to help the students gain a perspective of the strategic security issues Mongolia faces today.

U.S. Embassy to Support Mongolian Treasure Amarbayasgalant Monastery
U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that it will contribute $86,200 to the Arts Council of Mongolia for preservation of the Amarbayasgalant Monastery. The project funded by State Department’s Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation will help protect the monastery from fire and theft which are the main threats to this rare national treasure.
